Fleet Screening of "The Sinking of The Lisbon Maru"

Monday 28th September 2026

A screening of Fang Li's Film "The Sinking of The Lisbon Maru" was organised by the local community and the Film Society in Fleet Hampshire on 28th September 2026 and included a Q&A session with Major (Retired) Brian Finch.

The event was extremely well attended and appreciated. One could tell from the atmosphere in the room that our audience found the film powerful and emotional.

We had 22 visitors, who found out about the screening by word of mouth, or our promotional posters. I am sure that most were descendants of survivors.

Thank you to Brian for contributing to the making of the film and providing such a thoughtful and interesting insight into both the production and the associated issues, during the Q&A session. We ask our audiences to complete feedback forms and this is the first time we have had such an high average score of 4.9.
