Personal history before the war

Educated Daniel Stewarts College Edinburgh. Joined Scottish Union and National Insurance Company. Married Constance Gregor. Joined Royal Scots, posted to Hong Kong.

Wartime experience

Served with 2nd Battalion Royal Scots in Hong Kong. In command of C Company. Taken prisoner at time of surrender.

Personal history post-war

Re-joined Scottish Union and National Insurance Company.

Retired 1969 to take up post as Documentation Officer for Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh 1970.

Subsequently became Scottish War Records Secretary, Edinburgh Castle.

Invited to assist All Africa Games in Nigeria 1972 (scheduled 1973). Suffered stroke and died in Redhill Hospital on return.
