Thomas Eades was born in 1918 and was a tiler before he joined the Royal Navy.
Thomas was posted to Hong Kong where he was taken prisoner by the Japanese. He suvived the sinking of the Lisbon Maru, after being shot in the leg and was rescued by Chinese Fishermen, after spending 16 hours in the water. Thomas was recaptured by the Japanese and then held as a POW in Osaka until liberation in 1945.
Thomas finally returned and met up with his wife in Cardiff after 8 years, 6 in war and 2 in hospital.
He had several jobs, but just before his retirement he worked as a Conductor Guard with British Rail.
Sadly, Thomas didn't make his retirement due to a duodenal ulcer erupting. He died in front of my mum and I. A day I will never forget. One of the worst days of my life.
