Joseph lived in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a brother to 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He was a loving family man always helping out. Joseph went to Pershill School, Edinburgh and was a good sports man.
I don't know much except of what my nana told me about Uncle Joseph. My Aunt Josephine, myself and my daughter have all carried his name for the last 90 years. My nana used to say "never forget you are named after the most caring person".
Some sources erroneously give Joseph's middle name as Parkerson but it was Parkinson.
Joseph was a volunteer in WW2 with the Royal Scots, 2nd Battalion. He was captured on 23rd or 25th December 1941 by the Japanese, survived the Lisbon Maru and sadly died of cardiac beriberi on 8th March 1943.
The above information was provided by Josephine Duff Olsson great niece of Joseph Parkinson Duff.
