Personal history before the war

Leslie was born in Enfield, Middlesex. He left school in 1933 and went to work in Belling's appliance factory in Enfield.

He loved billiards, was a member of the local club, and used to play often with his friends on the billiard table at his parents' house.

He played the guitar and the piano.

I do not know if he volunteered or was conscripted, but imagine he followed the usual route of a private in the Middlesex.

He must have been a kind person, my mother, his sister, told me that "He was the best brother that anyone could have had." His loss was so painful that neither his sisters nor his mother would ever speak about it.

Wartime experience

The usual Army private's existence. Served in Ceylon and Hong Kong. Last saw his family at age 20.
