Personal history before the war

Kenneth was the son of William and Edith Maud Burdett. He was educated at Balby Street School, Denaby, South Yorkshire and was employed in the family haulage contracting business before he joined up in 1934.

Wartime experience

Kenneth was stationed in Hong Kong from 1936. One of his brothers Sergeant Frank Burdett was also in the Royal Artillery and had served in Malta and Hong Kong. While his other brother Sapper Albert Burdett was in the Royal Engineers and was one of the last men to leave Dunkirk.

Kenneth was lost during the sinking of the Lisbon Maru.
